Patrons serve as benefactors or power players who provide resources, missions, and influence to characters and their allies. In return, the characters may owe their patron loyalty, favors, or specific services. The patron system helps deepen the roleplaying aspect by linking character motivations and objectives to the goals of influential figures.
This system helps shape the narrative, provide context for adventures, and add stakes to the world, as characters must balance the advantages and obligations that come with having a powerful backer. Characters might also deal with rivalries or complications due to their patron’s political machinations or hidden agendas.
Universal Patron Requirements & Rules
- You must meet your Factions rank requirements.
- You must meet the Limitations of each patron.
- You may only server one patron per game session, chosen prior to game time. This will affect which Bonus (if any) is applicable to that game session.
- Gear from your patron is granted for the game session in which you are working for your patron. If not lost, destroyed or expended during the session, it is turned back in to your patron once you have completed that session.
- Only one patron gear can be given out per session, regardless of the number of characters who follow that patron unless noted otherwise.
- Example, if two characters take the same patron, they will only receive one of the special gear granted by that patron (unless noted otherwise).
- Bonuses are only applicable for the session in which you are working for that Patron and not permanent or usable outside of in-game sessions.
