Adventure Advancement
Level progression operates uniquely in this realm. We’ve chosen to depart from the conventional Experience Point (“XP”) system, which often associates rewards with kills or the intricacies of the action economy. This departure is intentional, as the XP-centric approach tends to create a mathematical equation that certain players aim to optimize for maximum XP gains. In our world, we’ve opted for a more immersive alternative – the acquisition of levels is directly tied to the number of sessions played. This shift is not just about breaking away from numerical calculations; it’s about fostering a narrative-driven and session-focused experience where character growth aligns with the unfolding story, promoting a more engaging and holistic adventure for all players involved.
- Tier: Tiers exist because player characters don’t level up in a linear fashion. Classes get access to different features at different times so not every class will be balanced as they reach a certain level. In order to maintain balance, classes are balanced to advance at the same rate every couple of levels, exemplified by the tiers of play.
- Sessions per Level: This is the number of sessions you must participate in to gain a level.
- Tier 1: You gain a level after each Session.
- Tier 2 & 3: You gain a level for every 3 Sessions you complete.
- Tier 4: You gain a level for every 4 Sessions you complete.
- Minimum Sessions: This is the minimum number of Sessions you must have completed before you can gain this level. Upon completing this number of sessions, you can advance to the lowest level of this tier.
- Downtime XP Token: Purchasing a Downtime XP Token (see below) is the same as completing a Session. Thus, when you purchase a token, you are purchasing a completed Session record.
Note: If you have signed up for a session in discord, you are prohibited from buying XP tokens.
Adventure Time
Time spent on in-game adventure sessions is deducted from your Downtime XP total at a rate of 25 XP per day spent in an adventure.
- The minimum time per in-game adventure is 3 days.
- Your Downtime XP may go negative as a result of this, and any XP gained through the normal process of gaining downtime XP will be added as normal.
Downtime Advancement
Recognizing that not everyone can consistently attend every gaming session, and acknowledging that we might have more players than available slots for a specific adventure, we’ve introduced a solution. To accommodate those who may miss sessions regularly or those who appreciate our extensive Downtime activities, we provide the option to purchase levels using XP earned from engaging in downtime pursuits.
Nearly all downtime activities yield XP, and this accrued XP can be exchanged to acquire tokens. These tokens, once obtained, can be redeemed to advance a character by one level. Each token is associated with a predetermined price based on its tier, and the cost must be paid in XP to move into the corresponding tier upon redemption. It’s worth noting that players can acquire multiple tokens simultaneously, but the redemption process follows a sequential order and applies to the character who made the purchase. This system not only addresses scheduling challenges but also enriches the gameplay experience by intertwining character progression with the diverse range of downtime activities offered in our campaign world.
Multiple Characters
You are able to have more than one character. Character slots are unlocked as you progress, as seen in the sidebar table.
You can manage up to two characters simultaneously, but there are rules associated with running multiple characters:
- Downtime: Downtime is not shared among your characters. Each character has its own allotment of downtime days, and you must track this individually for each character.
- Roleplaying Rules: When roleplaying in Discord, make it clear which character your roleplay pertains to by using that character’s name in the text. Interactions between your active characters are not allowed, as they cannot see each other while active. However, you can engage in roleplay between your active character and a past or future family character, as long as there are no mechanical benefits gained (e.g., intel, items, secrets). Permission from the DM is required if the character is an NPC for something.
- No Mutual Benefits: Your characters cannot provide benefits to each other. Even if characters are connected in some way, such as being from the same family, you cannot use one character to benefit another through exchanges of gold, intel, or other advantages.
- Character Businesses: No transactions are allowed between your characters. You cannot sell or purchase items between them, and you may not involve another player to facilitate such transactions.
- Exception to Rule: Goods and services listed in a public forum (Auction House, Shops, etc.) can be used by all your characters, provided the prices paid are the same prices paid/offered to the general public. I.e., no preferential treatment for your characters vs others.
- No Sharing: Transferring items, gold, or information between your characters is prohibited. You cannot share gold or items, and you are not allowed to share secrets between your characters. Keep character knowledge separate and appropriate.

Game Master Advancement
Just like player characters, Game Masters can advance in our Game Master leveling system. The GM leveling system is simply a way of rewarding the hard work and time that a GM puts in to their craft.
Upon completing a session a GM make make one of the following choices:
- Apply One session to one of their own Player Characters as if that PC had attended a game session, or
- Apply One session to the Game Master class
In both cases, the PC or the GM Class advances as per the table at the top of this page.
