Noble


Nobles are the blue-blooded rulers of any society, granted authority by birthright. They represent the highest level of authority within a social structure, whether traditional feudal lords or ascendant merchant families.

  • Additional Equipment: A signet ring engraved with your family crest, fine clothes.

Ability: Position of Privilege

Upon spending an hour speaking in your defense and succeeding on a medium-DC Charisma (Persuasion) check, you can exert your noble privilege to avoid or reduce the consequences of lawbreaking.

Ranks

Rank 1 – Disheveled Noble

Your family name has declined, and your once-proud noble estate is now ruined. Despite your noble blood, you have little power or influence, relying on your title to get you out of trouble.

Holdings:

  • A ruined estate allowing you to perform /pc-profession to advance your career.
  • A noble title of diminished influence.

Progression:

  • Obtain a barony from a higher-ranking noble.
  • Restore your family household to a reputable state.
  • Bring in 1,200 pp to your local treasury by exerting your noble privilege.

Rank 2 – Lord Baron

Titled as Lord Baron of an estate, you have begun attending noble gatherings and see your reputation rising. You are the local authority within your barony, with hopes of advancing to a county.

Holdings:

  • A barony estate with resources and hirelings.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Charisma proficiency bonus when performing your profession.
  • A baron’s title affirming your social status.

Progression:

  • Obtain a county from a higher-ranking noble.
  • Construct a noble estate befitting a Count.
  • Bring in 2,400 pp to your local treasury by exerting your noble privilege.

Rank 3 – Count

Your reputation has risen to prominence, controlling an entire county with multiple baronies under your influence. You navigate the aristocratic political landscape, wielding considerable power but facing political adversaries.

Holdings:

  • A county estate with resources and hirelings.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Charisma proficiency bonus when performing your profession. Stacks with prior rank (+2 total).
  • A count’s title affirming your authority.

Progression:

  • Obtain a duchy from a Monarch.
  • Construct a noble estate befitting a Duke.
  • Bring in 4,800 pp to your local treasury by exerting your noble privilege.

Rank 4 – Duke

Appointed as a direct vassal of the Monarch, you hold considerable influence throughout your region and beyond. Invited to prestigious events, you enjoy restored glory but also face threats from political enemies.

Holdings:

  • A Duke’s estate with resources and hirelings.
    • A 5,000gp grant, representing your Duke’s estate, that must be spent on a stronghold.
  • A Duke’s title affirming your authority and social status.
