Hunters make their living by trapping, hunting, and killing vicious beasts. Some provide meat and furs for settlements or trade, while the strongest may become a community’s best defense against wandering monsters. Proficient in setting various traps and favoring ranged weapons when taking down larger prey, they have a natural aptitude for tracking beasts of all kinds.
- Skill Proficiency: Survival.
- Additional Equipment: A hunting trap, 50 feet of hempen rope, one vial of pheromones or a pouch of bait.
Ability: Track Quarry
Upon spending an hour examining your surroundings and succeeding on a medium-DC Wisdom (Survival) check, you can track the movements of creatures that have passed through the area, ascertaining the exact time and direction a creature went if you are familiar with the type of creature.
Ranks
Rank 1 – Tracker
Shadowing an accomplished hunter to learn their methods, you busy yourself setting snares, practicing with a bow and arrow, and learning about the creatures you hunt.
Holdings:
- Knowledge of a Beast Hunters’ Lodge that you can use in the wilderness to rest and escape danger.
- A lead on the location of the lair of a powerful and dangerous creature allowing you to perform /pc-profession to advance your career.
Progression: Prove to your mentor that you are competent to hunt on your own and teach the new and inexperienced.
- Turn in a total of 1,200 pelts to the local leather shop.
Rank 2 – Trapper
Developing your skills to make a living, you are adept in setting traps and seek out game trails where there is evidence of recent activity.
Holdings:
- Up to a handful of apprentices who wish to learn the trade.
- Grants a +1 bonus to your Wisdom proficiency bonus when performing your profession.
- Use of equipment from a Beast Hunters’ Lodge to hunt any beast you accept a contract to kill.
Progression: Complete a contract to kill a particularly rare and dangerous beast for a community or an influential individual.
- Turn in a total of 2,400 pelts to the local leather shop.
Rank 3 – Venator
You are the one to call if farmers are being slain by beasts or if mages require a specific magical component.
Holdings:
- A team of experienced hunters who assist you in large hunts.
- Grants a +1 bonus to your Wisdom proficiency bonus when performing your profession. Stacks with prior rank (+2 total).
- Access to the Beast Hunters’ Lodge’s library, containing all known weaknesses of beasts and monsters.
Progression: Slay a legendary beast, drawing the awe of influential individuals across the land.
- Turn in a total of 4,800 pelts to the local leather shop.
Rank 4 – Mythical Beast Hunter
Your skills are unparalleled, and monarchs, nobles, merchants, and druids seek your aid in dealing with the most difficult of monsters.
Holdings:
- Fame and high repute across the land.
- Your Fame is increased by 10 (see a GM).
- An audience with any ruler to discuss matters of beast hunting in their domain.

Profession Change
To change from your current profession to this profession you must meet the following pre-requisites:
- 1 Lower Class Contact
- You must successfully Track a Quarry vs a Hard DC.
You cannot change professions again, until you have reached at least Rank 2 of this profession.
