Free Swords, often known as mercenaries, are individuals who take on contracts that local forces cannot handle. They may be hired to defend villages against raiders, assist overextended sheriffs, or protect merchants traveling through dangerous territories. Larger mercenary companies even engage in wars on behalf of cities and kings. For Free Swords, coin is the primary motivator, and they adhere little to notions of honor in the contracts they accept.
