Entertainer

Entertainers revel in the limelight, garnering applause and reveling in fantasy. Entertainers are performance experts who can captivate, inspire and delight their audiences in a range of artistic displays. Their poetry captivates, speaking to the depths of human emotion to depict sadness, love or joy. Their music enlivens or instills sadness. Their dance is agile and joyful and their mood is often tailored specifically for their audience.

Profession: Find Fandom

Upon spending an hour performing and speaking to locals, and completing a medium-DC Charisma (Performance) check, you can find a contact among the local community leaders, such as village elders, tavern owners, and other well-respected common folk. This contact begins as friendly to you and will answer questions you have regarding life within the town, local news, and public opinion.

Ranks

Rank 1 – Stage Hand

Whether you grew up surrounded by musicians and ran away with a band of entertainers. You show up wherever you’re needed, whether it’s to turn the page for musicians, clean animal cages, or help set up camp for the night. Occasionally, they even let you join in on the performances.

Holdings:

  • Accommodation together with the other entertainers, including food in exchange for completing certain tasks or performances.
  • An anonymous letter from a loyal admirer desperate to meet you.

Progression: Your Entertainment Group Leader asks you to replace another unreliable entertainer and offers you a permanent position in the group, regardless of your talents.

  • Perform 1,200 hours on stage.

Rank 2 – Performer

You have made a name for yourself as an entertainer, whether you are alone or part of a group. You are easily identifiable by your clothes and appearance. Your performances move people’s hearts.

Holdings:

  • Your own personal dressing room.
  • A herald to announce you and hype up the crowd prior to your performances.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Charisma proficiency bonus when performing your profession.

Progression: A traveling noble or court official must observe your performance, and days later writes you a letter to entertain at a court or mansion.

Rank 3 – Crew Leader

You have become the leader of a group of entertainers, responsible for the safety of performances in cities or noble mansions. You have developed a mastery in the various artistic components of your performances: poetry, dance, music or comedy. The owners of the establishments where you entertain compensate you and your group with free lodging and food.

Holdings:

  • A loyal fan base, including several influential individuals.
  • A loyal fan base, including several influential individuals.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Charisma proficiency bonus when performing your profession. Stacks with prior rank (+2 total).

Progression: You must be offered a large sum of money by a wealthy fan to perform on a semi-regular basis for him.

  • You can’t relax yet, 4,800 hours on stage to perfection.

Rank 4 – Court Troubadour

You have secured a permanent position as an entertainer in a prestigious court or mansion, performing to the delight of the high nobility. You are considered a virtuoso of your art.

Holdings:

  • Permanent lodging in the mansion of a noble or the court you work for.
  • A scandalous secret of the lord of that mansion or of a prominent courtier, of which you have unequivocal proof.
  • A 2,000gp annual stipend.

Profession Change

To change from your current profession to this profession you must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • Proficiency in Performance
  • Successfully conduct at least 40 hours of Pavilion Performances.

You cannot change professions again, until you have reached at least Rank 2 of this profession.
