Tribesperson

Life in a small tribe is inherently close-knit, fostering a strong sense of community and interdependence among its members. Unlike the anonymity of city life, tribespeople work closely together on a daily basis, relying on each other for survival and treating one another as if they were family. They collectively undertake all the essential tasks required to sustain their way of life, including gathering food, crafting weapons and tools, and resolving disputes that may arise among tribe members. This collaborative effort ensures the tribe’s cohesion and resilience in the face of challenges.

Ability: Tribal Familiarity

After spending an hour in a natural wilderness area and succeeding on a DC 10 Wisdom (Survival) check, you can discern signs of humanoid activity in the vicinity. This includes identifying the presence of other humanoids and determining the direction of nearby settlements. If you are familiar with the area, you can also ascertain which tribe or group the settlements belong to and gain insight into their general attitude towards outsiders.

Ranks

Rank 1 – Tribal Member

You are a valued member of one of the tribes in Faerun. Your duties primarily involve tasks within the safety of your camp or village. These tasks may include simple craftwork and maintenance of tribal dwellings. As you demonstrate your abilities and dedication, the elders may entrust you with greater responsibilities.

Holdings

  • Knowledge obtained from travelers about potential resource-rich locations in the wilderness allowing you to perform /pc-profession to advance your career.

Progression: Earn permission from an elder to explore the wilderness independently.

  • Spend a total of 1,200 hours tending to your tribe.

Rank 2 – Hunter-Gatherer

Recognized for your skills and trustworthiness, the tribe’s elders have granted you permission to venture beyond the settlement’s boundaries. As a hunter-gatherer, you are responsible for procuring food, protecting the tribe from minor threats, and scouting for new resources and potential areas for expansion.

Holdings

  • Authority to recruit other tribe members to assist you in wilderness tasks or establish small camps outside the tribe’s territory.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Wisdom proficiency bonus when performing your profession.

Progression: Demonstrate exceptional leadership and support the tribe during challenging times.

  • Spend a total of 2,400 hours tending to your tribe.

Rank 3 – Elder

Your wisdom, judgment, and dedication to the tribe have earned you a place among the elders. In this role, you oversee many aspects of tribal life and offer counsel to the chieftain on important matters. As an elder, your words carry significant weight within the tribe, and you have the power to decide minor issues independently. For more significant matters, you collaborate with fellow elders to reach decisions.

Holdings

  • Authority over a large portion of the tribe’s members.
    • Grants a +1 bonus to your Wisdom proficiency bonus when performing your profession. Stacks with prior rank (+2 total).

Progression: Provide wise leadership and guidance during times of adversity.

  • Spend a total of 4,800 hours tending to your tribe.

Rank 4 – Chieftain

Through a process of election, trial, or other means, you have ascended to the position of chieftain within your tribe. As the leader, your word is law within the tribe, and you represent your people in dealings with other tribes or groups. Your role involves making crucial decisions for the tribe’s welfare and ensuring its prosperity.

Holdings

  • Counsel from respected elders, warlords, and spiritual leaders.
  • Final authority over all tribal decisions and disputes, as well as jurisdiction over all tribe members.
  • Your seen enough in your life, when performing Tribal Familiarity you can extend the benefits to non-humanoids.
